Though Asia has been the world’s fastest-growing region for decades, until recently there were limited case studies that referenced Asian business and economic topics, as most case studies were produced in Europe and North America. The Asia Case Research Centre (ACRC) was founded in 1997 to redress this imbalance and cater to unmet demand. ACRC has produced numerous Asia-based cases focusing on global sourcing, business ethics and many other topics aimed at academics, national and international institutions, and organisations of all sizes.

Patients in China suffering from acute ischemic stroke, when arteries leading to the brain are blocked, have traditionally not experienced excellent clinical outcomes. Battling this disease has been a long-term battle for physicians working in the country’s overcrowded under-resourced public hospitals. Professor Haipeng Shen, Patrick S C Poon Professor in Analytics and Innovation at HKU Business School, has been working to change this situation by collaborating with top physicians and embracing the power of big data.

Research conducted at HKU on clawbacks has had a major influence on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s policymaking process, and has stimulated public debate by offering a holistic discussion on the benefits and shortfalls of clawbacks. The ensuing regulatory reforms have been widely discussed and debated in the media and across the global regulatory community.

A series of projects was conducted by Mr David Bishop and his team to advance the rights of migrant workers and eliminate unlawful practices in the Hong Kong employment agency industry.
